Rough earth mixed with pebbles

Shigaraki ware has long been cherished for how its earthy warmth beautifully showcases plants. Grains of stone bursting forth from beneath the glaze lend plants a vibrant charm. Stones that sputter during firing are called stone burst while the white, rounded protrusions are known as Feldspar Particles.

Easy upkeep

This small vase fits only one or two flowers and is easy to keep updating with fresh flowers because of this. Of course, dried flowers will also look great in this vase.

Available in 3 Colors

An orange-tinged scarlet base is layered with glaze or left as is. Available in three colors: White, Black, and Scarlet.

Stone Burst

Stone Burst refers to small spots where feldspar contained in the clay bursts during firing and becomes visible on the surface.
If you notice tiny areas along the rim that look slightly chipped, these are places where small stones have burst and disappeared in the heat of the kiln.

Feldspar Particles

These specks are affectionately called “kani-no-me”—literally “crab’s eyes”—for their delicate, dotted appearance. They are a natural feature of Shigaraki ware, reflecting the character of the clay and the heat of the kiln.

Cracks

As the clay gently shrinks during firing and drying, fine cracks may form on the surface or between pieces. We check to ensure all pieces are properly attached and these cracks are only surface-level.
